A Shopgirls’ Delight
Deck out your home with these fabulous finds
By Rita DeMontis – Toronto Sun, October 2, 2008
Fashion, art and home — all under one roof and available at The Shopgirls Gallery Boutique, an incredibly unique, fascinating and affordable spot. It’s a gallery boutique that only carries one-of-a-kind and limited-edition works and designs of undiscovered local talent.
But the shop also operates as a retail collective, offering everything from clothing, accessories and jewelry to furniture, art and home décor, all produced by up-and-coming local Canadian artists.
Shopgirls, located in the artsy Parkdale Village neighbourhood, is a labour of love for Canadian owner and curator Michelle Germain, who brings years of knowledge and expertise to the table. You can find beautiful Melanie Janisse Bakelite tile rings for under $60, poppy pins and earrings by Julie Moon starting at $20, and recycled leather belts for $95. It’s all whimsical, unusual and one-of-a-kind.
